Music and art are an important part of what makes us human. Every culture on the planet creates its own unique form of music and art. Scientists have discovered that music and art effect our brain, but you don't even have to be a scientist to know how music and art effect your own creativity. Music and art are powerful languages that enable us to express our feelings, emotions, memories and dreams. In this class we will become familiar with the great movements in music and art. We will learn how these two worlds are really one; both express inner beauty and human creativity. We will learn how new ways of understanding the world effected both the music and art of those periods. We will create our own works of art as we learn.

This class is designed for both the reluctant artist or the already budding Frida Kahlo. We will use an inspirational, popular picture book that will get the creative juices flowing. This book will be our starting point for artistic conversations. Typically, a class will start with a read aloud, viewing a demonstration video of Ms. V executing the project and Ms. V showing a step-by-step break down of each project. Each class will focus on an art skill/technique whether it be color theory, composition, perspective and much more. Other media such as inventive music videos will be used to demonstrate the art that surrounds us in our everyday lives.
