Thousands of years ago, long before Christopher Columbus set sail, wandering tribes of hunters make their way from Asia across the Bering land bridge to North America through the stories of mountain men, railroad builders and gold rush hopefuls; simply put, prehistory (pre-1600) until 1860, are the time periods this United States History (Part One) class will explore. Using the thought-provoking narrative and award-winning series, A History of US by Joy Hakim, students will unfold the magic of United States history. Together, we will read, analyze, discuss, dig deeper using Joy Hakims’ first five books (as listed below). Not only will we learn about the time period, we will also explore the music, people, events of these time periods.
