We often explore and learn about history from the male point of view. This series teaches students that the stories of our past have other perspectives. Students will learn not only to look at these historical events and time periods from a female perspective, but will come to understand that by looking at events from multiple perspectives (including, for example, a child’s perspective, or a different cultural perspective) they will come to develop a deeper understanding of our past, present and future. This 10 week course will start with an overview class to help students grasp the idea of various perspectives in history and then in each subsequent class we will study a different event or time period from a female perspective – both important contributions of women during the time as well as the experience of life during that time from a women’s point of view. The class will cover the Viking era, the American pioneers, the American Civil War, the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, WWII, the American Revolution, The Renaissance period, and the American Civil Rights movement.
NOTE: Registration deadline is August 26, 2019.
