This course will introduce the student to the wonderful world of 3D printing where they will learn:
- How a 3D printer works.
- The various types of available filaments and their use cases.
- How to use TinkerCad, a popular, age appropriate online 3D modeling tool.
- How to design 3D models for optimal print results.
- How to adjust slicer settings such as infill, wall thickness, rafts and temperature to improve the chances of a successful print.
There will be no required homework assignments. Most work will be completed in class with optional time spent outside of class working on their designs.
No 3D printer required! Lab fee of $25.00 due in Fall 2022 to Ken Kozaczka. The lab fee covers an actual physical 3D print of the students’ design mailed to them at the completion of this course!
