Can you dig it? Paleontology for kids is a 10 week introductory course, designed to give students a better understanding of the earth’s geologic history. We will use a series of inquiry labs and hands on guided activities to study the history of earth as seen as the rock layers. Topics covered include geologic time scale, fossil formation, dinosaurs throughout time and fossil extraction

This is an online class with hands on class activities.  Students will be required to read, take notes, and apply concepts discussed in class with weekly assignments. In addition, each student will select a topic of their choice for a culminating project. This project allows students to dig deep in to their curiosity of paleontology.

Dinosaurs, extinctions and geologic time are captivating topics. By the end of this course students will have a solid foundation in the major eras of earth’s geologic past, the appearance of life and massive extinctions.

Expect 1 – 2 hours of at home assignments which range from reading an article, taking an online quiz, or answering questions about that week’s topic.

NOTE: Registration deadline is December 15, 2022.

There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
