Class time will be spent discussing and listening to music, playing a variety of games and activities, and making music ourselves.
Each week will be on a musical genre or era, such as jazz or baroque or Chinese traditional, and organized (roughly) in chronological order, taking students on a journey through time and around the world. Each week will also incorporate related music theory topics such as rhythm, musical notation, or tempo.
Goals:
Students will walk away with a greater appreciation and understanding of music and creativity after learning about music history (from Beethoven to the Beatles), music theory, and the musical cultures of places all around the world.
NOTE:
Registration deadline is September 15, 2021.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
