Biology is the study of life and living organisms. We will use a hands-on, inquiry-based approach to explore the physical structure, chemical composition, function, and development of life on Earth.
Instructional strategies include modeling exercises, laboratory experiments, virtual labs, projects, class discussions, and problem-solving exercises.
At the end of this course, students will be able to
- Demonstrate specific knowledge about biological concepts and themes
- Evaluate scientific claims and issues that affect daily life
- Critically read biological literature
- Communicate effectively about biological subjects
Parents can contact the instructor before September 11th for their child to take this as an HONORS class. There will be an extra long term project and exam that the student will be assigned to receive HONORS credit.
High School Students can use this course as a 1 credit lab science.
NOTE: This class must reach the minimum of five students by August 20th to run. If we do not meet this minimum, parents will be notified via email.
