What does the President actually do? Let’s take a closer look at what the job of President of the United States entails, how this position was created and what you would do if put in this role.
In this 10- week course, students will meet weekly to take an in depth look at how this role came to be, how it has changed throughout history, and what it really involves, all while evaluating how they would handle these different tasks along the way. We will begin with how and why there are three branches of government, compare American democracy to other types of governments, learn the many roles that the President must fulfill, including the needs of citizens, discuss leadership and some past Presidents’ leadership styles, and finally create and deliver a speech about what our plans would be as President of the United States of America.
Students can expect approximately one hour of homework, which will be made of up reading, short writing prompts and preparing for class discussions.
NOTE: Registration deadline is December 15, 2021.
There must be a minimum of FIVE students to run this class.
