Do you have a student interested in learning a visual language, in which they can express themselves with their hands?
American Sign Language is a fun and dynamic way of expressing oneself through a visual modality of communication. Students will learn basic vocabulary to enable them to start conversing in American Sign Language. We will work on receptive and expressive language development. Students will learn vocabulary themes, sentence structure, Deaf Culture, with the focus being on conversational dialogue.
Each week there will be a focus on a specific theme in which vocabulary will be learned. Games and activities will be used to practice the signs, understand grammatical structure, and gain more confidence in their signing skills. In addition to cultivating a fun atmosphere for developing comfortability and expression in ASL.
By the end of the session students will have developed vocabulary in ASL being able to hold simple conversation through expressive and receptive language skills.
NOTE: Registration deadline is December 15, 2022.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
Miss Alli has been teaching my daughters on zoom, both art and sign language from across the globe! It is one of the highlights of both of their days and they cannot wait to get started each week. Miss Alli is an amazing, patient and kind teacher and can keep kids engaged for their sessions even over zoom. My kids are learning so much from her and I am so thankful that my children get to work with Miss Alli.
