Introduction to Spanish – Grades 6 – 8 – Spring 2021 – 10 Weeks

Students will explore basic concepts of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. We will learn a variety of vocabulary and create cultural projects such as traditional foods and crafts (special supply kit included with registration). This is a great introduction to important concepts which will enhance and prepare students who are interested in continuing on to more formal study in Spanish I for transcript credit.
Instruction and assignments will include reading, writing, listening, speaking, active, and hands-on activities. Students will be encouraged to share their ideas in a positive environment.
Please note that a kit with special craft supplies will be mailed to you about a week before the course begins from the instructor.
The goals of this class include:
- Introducing students to the principles of foreign language learning
- Strengthening and supporting English writing and speaking skills
- Exploring a world which is constantly growing more connected
- Preparing students for continuing on into full credit foreign language courses.
Students can expect approximately one hour of homework weekly.
Registration deadline is March 15, 2021.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
