Each class will begin with a teacher-led read aloud from that week’s book. Your emerging reader will be given the option of practicing the important skill of reading aloud as well. We will learn together through the reading of engaging literature, class discussion, comprehension activities, and videos. There will be an in-class, hands-on craft project for each unit and extension materials will be provided for optional at-home work. Students are encouraged to come to class in costumes appropriate to the book we are reading together!
Please note that this class is ONE HOUR.

Five star class with the best OTA early elementary teacher!!
My daughter felt very grown up participating in this class each week and really looked forward to Tuesdays so she could see her classmates and participate through sharing what she learned. It encouraged her to start reading more on her own while accepting kids who weren’t there yet.
Great for reluctant readers!
My daughter loved this class. She is an “emerging” reader, but not really motivated to read. But she loved the content or this course and the creative things they did together. She looked forward to this class all week. Highly recommend!
My daughter absolutely adores Mrs. Brittany! Although she is comfortable reading, this class has really helped her learn her how to organize her thoughts, write and summarize ideas; it has also expanded her vocabulary. We were thinking of switching to the history class but she begged us to stay with this class next semester; you can’t have better proof of a class then a kid begging to work
A fun way to learn
My daughter is an emerging reader and has gained so much from this class. Brittany inspires the students and it’s so much more than a literature series. My daughter has never been so excited to work on reading. She wants to do this class on her own, she just loves her teacher. It has helped her not only with reading, but to listen and comprehend as well. I will continue to put her in the MTH classes.
