Musical Theatre Fan Club – Grades 4 – 9 – Fall 2021 – 10 Weeks

Come and join some liked-minded theatre buffs in this Musical Theatre Fan Club. This class introduces students to a different Broadway musical every two weeks. Class will combine music and video clips with slides and an interactive discussion as we explore the plot, characters, musical numbers, and major themes of each musical. The musicals covered in this class will be a mix of old and new. Get ready to come out of this class with a deeper understanding of some of Broadway’s most magical moments as we act, sing, dance, and even create simple costume pieces!

This semester will focus on Dear Evan Hanson, Chicago, The Wizard of Oz, Legally Blond, and West Side Story.

With each new musical, we explore its individual style and musical numbers in a critical fashion. My teaching style is active and students can expect to be up moving around, and using their voices. Students will also have a chance to reflect upon our activities in their weekly journal.

In this class, we will learn all about musicals, have your budding teen think more critically about musical theatre, and try to sharpen their own triple threat skills in acting, singing, and dancing.

NOTE:

Registration deadline is September 15, 2021.

There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
