Summer Math Workshop: Filling Your Tool Belt
$ 75.00
10 available

In this week long workshop, learners will fill their tool belts with important math skills. These sessions catapult learners into math confidence with fun, engaging tasks that solidify elementary math skills.  The skills reviewed include identifying and writing fractions and decimals, estimating, and whole number operations (subtraction with regrouping, multiplication, and division). (*Note: This class does not cover long division).

Students are asked to play the teacher by correcting pretend student work. They will identify errors and make corrections. With Mrs. Young as their guide, students learn the common mistakes that are made around fractions, decimals, and whole number operations. They learn how to estimate to get a sense of what the answer should be and learn how to check their answers to ensure simple mistakes are avoided.

The goal is for learners to feel their math tool-belt is stocked full, allowing them to access the next level of math with ease and excitement.

If absent, make-up any of the missed work. While in this mini-course, be willing to share your thinking via the chat or out-loud. Be respectful and kind to one another as we learn together. Be open to making mistakes as we learn math best by trying, even if we are incorrect at first.

Grades for this mini workshop are Met Expectations, Exceeded Expectations, or Not Yet Met Expectations.

Met Expectations is earned for participating and putting forth effort in homework.

Exceeded Expectations is earned by putting in exceptional effort on homework and excelling during class participation.

We hope that your student joins us!

NOTE: Registration deadline is July 29, 2022.

There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.

There are no reviews yet. Be the first one to write one.
