“A position where I can do the most good…” (Eleanor Roosevelt)
Did you know that First Lady Hillary Clinton was the first First Lady to become a senator of New York?
Did you know that Florence Harding was the first woman to be able to VOTE for her husband in a presidential election?
Did you know that Eleanor Roosevelt was called the ” First Lady of the World”?
People admire them or revile them; however, either way, they are expected to be a presence on the national and international scene no matter the buzz about them. As of 2021, over 48 women have held the role of First Lady. Forty-eight how can that be? We have had 46 presidents. And not all those who have served as a first lady were spouses to the presidents.
During this class, not only will we learn about the role a first lady takes on, but we will learn information as well as fun facts about the first lady’s role in both public and political roles. We will begin class with a fun yet competitive game of Kahoot to review the information from the week prior!
Participation is an absolute to make the most of this class. Participation happens in two ways: (1) through students speaking out loud OR (2) through typing in the chat log. Students may opt to what method of participation they prefer.
For homework. students will keep a notebook with basic information of each first lady. It should take them less than 1 hour/week.
Have your child join us in learning about the woman behind the man.
NOTE:
Registration deadline is March 1, 2022.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
