Opportunity. Timing. Upbringing.  Effort.  Meaningful work.  Legacy.

These six elements are rather powerful.

Do the successful have to work the hardest or do they have the best luck?

In the award-winning book Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcom Gladwell examines scientific data and evidence from well-known success stories to answer the question of what makes a person successful. Through this stunning book, we will take an intellectual journey through the world of “outliers”–the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful and question ourselves about what makes high-achievers different?

This is a high school ½ credit English semester. Students will participate in pre-reading, analyzing and post-reading discussions. Students will write essays as well as have some quizzes and a mid-term and final.

Students should expect 2 – 3  hours of homework weekly.

Prerequisite:  Students MUST know how to write a 5-paragraph expository essay for their final exam.  We will not be going over HOW to write an essay in this class.  Previous experience is expected.

Registration Deadline:  March 1, 2022

There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
