Students have the opportunity to earn foreign language credit for high school transcripts. Spanish vocabulary and grammar will be practiced through reading short character dialogues, writing short answers, and oral/aural practice. Targeted to motivated students willing to keep up with the exercises at home. By the end of the course students will be expected to answer multiple questions in complete sentences, conjugate verbs in all subjects and multiple tenses, and read and comprehend simple paragraphs in Spanish.
Learning a foreign language can be rigorous; it should also be fun! Ms. Rachel expects students to not just keep up with the rules of grammar, but also to explore and respect the richness of the many aspects of Hispanic culture. As long as students are making a good effort, Ms. Rachel is happy to adapt and assist as needed to help everyone succeed! She encourages both students and parents to contact her throughout the year with concerns and feedback. Learning is a team effort and she looks forward to welcoming you to the team!
- Understand and create both oral and written Spanish sentences and phrases.

We will use the revised edition of the book Spanish Made Simple by J. Nemethy (first half, second half covered in Spanish II)
Additionally students will need weekly access to YouTube video series Mi Vida Loca. An instructor-made workbook will be mailed to students upon registration.
Each week students will be expected to complete one chapter in the textbook, one episode of the video series, and 1-2 pages in the workbook.
This should take students approximately 3 hours a week.
