Winter 2023
Get ready for 10 stellar weeks of moons, stars, planets and more. Stargazers! Astronomy for Kids is an introductory class for upper middle school students. We will learn about our solar system and the greater universe. With topics ranging from the types of galaxies, craters on the surface of the moon, star life cycles, and all the planets in the solar system.
This is an online class with hands on style. Each week we meet for LIVE class where we may draw a diagram, make a graph, or run a lab. I’ll post additional class resources like videos and games in each week’s module. We will also record night sky observations and complete a student choice end of the class project. In which students are encouraged to follow their curiosity, and research something that interests them.
By the end of the course, student will have built a solid foundation in core astronomy topics.
Students can expect 1 – 2 hours of at home assignments which range from reading an article, taking an online quiz, or answering questions about that week’s topic.
NOTE: Registration deadline is December 15, 2022.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
Engaging and Fun
My daughter took Astronomy with Mrs. Pope. She learned so much and enjoyed the end of year project.
