It is rarely possible to bring world-class guest speakers into school to lecture students about their chosen field of expertise. It is, however, easy to bring their ideas and their passions direct to your students. This is what this class is all about!
In Ten Terrific Ted Talks, we are going to watch, discuss, analyze and debate various topics that are presented in ten amazing Ted Talks*. This class will combine psychology, social sciences, writing, current events and more! It is a discussion-based class so please make sure your child comes to class prepared to talk!
PLEASE NOTE: Some of the language in the TED TALKS might not be the “normal classroom language” that I use during class. There might be some “foul language” and/or “inappropriate language”. Please make sure your child understands that I do not teach or use this language. The TED TALKS are other people’s words.
*TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
