The Broadway musical, Come from Away, tells a heart-warming story, which occurred the day after 9/11. The story genuinely captures the power of the human spirit in a time of crisis during 9/11 reminding us that even when it may seem like the world is ending, somewhere in a tiny town no one has heard of – people are performing selfless acts that will affect generations to come.
We will analyze history, unique vocabulary, figurative language, and literary analysis as we go through the songs – looking at them as literature. Additionally, we will look for hidden meanings in this musical phenomenon!
Please note: There are mature themes, profanity and a few references to sex used in the songs in this play. Although this is not going to be our focus, please be aware that they are in the lyrics.
Homework is approximately two hours per week. Please join us for this powerful class.
Ninth graders can take .5 (1/2) credit in English, Drama or Elective.
NOTE: Registration deadline is August 15, 2022.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
