“And they were all, when their souls grew warm, poets.”Ray Bradbury
Carrie Mokry and her family live in southeastern Virginia. This is Carrie’s twenty-eighth year as a licensed educator. After teaching at the middle school level, Carrie moved into the educational technology realm where she helped public school educators integrate technology into their K-12 instruction.
Shifting from educational technology facilitator to educating the family, Carrie has been guiding the educational experiences of her family’s modern one room schoolhouse for eleven years. This involves coordinating instruction across multiple grade levels and interests plus redesigning curriculum as needed. Carrie is a lifelong learner who strives to inspire the love of learning and nurture the growth of her students. She believes in building community so that students and teachers can learn from one another.
Carrie’s pastimes include obedience and agility training of the family’s Aussiedoodle, mountain biking, reading, and volunteering. Some of her current volunteer opportunities include Scouts BSA (Proud mom of Eagle Scouts), church outreach for feeding the hungry, local cycling teams, and supporting neighbors as needed.
