Joleen holds an M.S in Psychology and was recently accepted into a doctoral program at Regent University where she hopes to obtain her Ph.D in Educational Psychology. She has a background in mental health, as well as neuropsychological and psychoeducational testing. Joleen has worked with children and adults of all ages in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to conducting evaluations, she loves leading mindfulness and coping strategies groups.
Joleen lives with her husband, who is a Naval Officer, and their 5 children, ages 18, 16, 13, 6, and 2. Her oldest just began her college journey, and is studying pre-med. Joleen decided that homeschooling was the best option for her family two years ago. This is when she found her love of teaching, and it pushed her into an educational doctoral program. She enjoys teaching a variety of subjects from science to arts and crafts. In addition to teaching her own children, she has experience teaching upper level sciences at a local co-op. Joleen also recently began an educational consulting company that offers evaluations, coaching, and tutoring in Virginia. She is extremely excited about joining the Open Tent Academy Family and beginning teaching online!
