Penelope is a voracious reader and enjoys discussing books with others. Before the pandemic, her favorite place to be was the public library, with a stack of books at her side. She was also a gymnast, and a competitive swimmer. Nowadays, she loves playing with her cat, talking to her friends, and learning science. She is 11, lives in Illinois, and now has a digital stack of library books she reads in the quiet corners of our home every day.

Although relatively new to OTA, Penelope has taken a leadership role in both OUT OF MY MIND and RADICAL READERS (our book club).
Penelope not only actively participates, but she challenges other students to think about concepts and situations that they wouldn’t have otherwise.
Her excitement and passion for reading is contagious!
