Description automatically generated

Katherine is 14 and lives in California.  For a long time, she’s been passionate about two things:  baseball and Shakespeare.  She has loved working with various Shakespeare groups to perform in many memorable roles (e.g. Puck, Macbeth, Macduff, Hamlet, and Prospero).  She’s also played baseball for many years, and last year, her All-Star Babe Ruth team made it to the State Championships.  Though baseball is her priority, she has also competed in track and field events, and last year she qualified for the Junior Olympics in the shot-put.

In addition to her education and sports, Katherine is employed by African American Shakespeare, where she works with a group of teens to market theater events to youth.  Finally, she is also an entrepreneur, working with her sister to launch new businesses.  The most successful part of her new business is that she has been working with a local baking business where she created a website, along with various marketing campaigns.

What Erin Forte-Froehling had to say about Katherine:

I am honored to nominate Katherine Williams for Student of the Semester.  Katherine truly goes above and beyond in her work.  As a student in my American Literature course, she is on time, and communicates effectively and beautifully.  Writing elegantly, her creativeness is well discovered in her work. Katherine thinks and participates well above her age, and really enjoys learning about history and literature. It is an honor to have her as a student in my class.
